Award for Paper Analyzing the Challenges of Ecosystem Emergence

Digital ecosystems pose an important challenge to companies who were used to successfully selling products in a traditional manner. The control over clients and profit pools can radically shift to new entrants positioning themselves as ecosystem leaders. Joachim Stonig, Torsten Schmid and Günter Müller-Stewens analyze this topic in their research work. They study how companies can leverage their position as a product specialist to remain successful in a changing industry environment. At the annual conference of the Strategic Management Society in Paris, the Strategy Process interest group awarded their paper titled “Ecosystem Emergence as a Strategic Transformation of Activity Systems” with the prize for the best conference proposal.
