Günter Müller-Stewens

Professor em. of Management

From 1991 till February 2017, Günter Müller-Stewens was a chair holder and professor of strategic management, and from 1997 till 2016 Executive Director of the Institute of Management & Strategy (IoMS-HSG) at the University of St. Gallen. From 2005 till 2007, he was Dean of the School of Management. Also, from 2002 till 2016 he was founder and Acad. Director of the Master in Strategy and International Management (SIM), as well as founder and Acad. Director of the Master in Business Management (MUG) from 2011 till 2016. He is currently working at the University of St. Gallen on a freelance basis and lectures there.

Prof. em. Günter Müller-Stewens

Günter Müller-Stewens researches, teaches and consults on the matters of strategic management. He is co-author of nearly 400 publications. He is the founder and publisher of “M&A Review” (1989-2016), member of boards of directors, supervisory and management boards of international organizations and corporations, consultant and trainer of international organizations and companies, speakers at international conferences and events, and recipient of several international awards. He is also a member of editorial boards of scientific journals, reviewer of scientific journals and conferences and a member of international academic associations.
Günter Müller-Stewens studied business administration at the University of Regensburg, received his Ph.D. rer. pol. at the University of Munich and qualified in 1986 as a Dr. rer. pol. habil. at the University of Stuttgart. Prior to his appointment to the HSG, he taught and researched at the University of Munich, University of Stuttgart, University of Duisburg, Harvard Business School, Stanford Business School, University of Michigan Business School and University of California, Irvine.
