Ordentlicher Professor für Strategisches Management
Björn Ambos ist Lehrstuhlinhaber und Professor für Strategisches Management sowie Direktor des Instituts für Betriebswirtschaft (IFB-HSG) an der Universität St. Gallen. Professor Ambos studierte Betriebswirtschaftslehre mit Schwerpunkt auf Internationalem Management und Organisation an der Universität Hamburg (Dipl.-Kfm., Dr. rer. pol.) und der Florida State University. Seine Habilitation wurde ihm 2006 von der Wirtschaftsuniversität Wien (WU) verliehen. Vor seiner Berufung an die HSG lehrte und forschte Prof. Ambos u. a. an der University of Edinburgh, der Universität Hamburg, der Bocconi University, Queens Universiy, der Florida International University und der WU Wien.

Prof. Dr. Björn Ambos
Björn Ambos ist Professor für Strategisches Management sowie Direktor des Instituts für Management an der Universität St. Gallen. Professor Ambos studierte Betriebswirtschaftslehre mit Schwerpunkt auf Internationalem Management und Organisation an der Universität Hamburg (Dipl.-Kfm., Dr. rer. pol.) und der Florida State University. Seine Habilitation wurde ihm 2006 von der Wirtschaftsuniversität Wien verliehen. Vor seiner Berufung an die HSG lehrte und forschte Prof Ambos u. a. an der University of Edinburgh, der Universität Hamburg, der Bocconi University, Queens University, der Florida International University und der WU Wien.
Prof. Ambos forscht die Themen Strategie, Organisation und Innovation in multinationalen Unternehmen. Im Jahr 2014 wurde er zum Senior Editor des Journal of World Business ernannt und 2015 wurde er darüber hinaus Senior Consulting Editor des Global Strategy Journals. Zusätzlich ist er in den Editorial Boards des Strategic Management Journals, des Journal of International Management, der Management International Review sowie des Journals of International Business Studies tätig. Prof. Ambos war zudem Mitglied des Boards der European International Business Academy (EIBA) und hielt verschiedene Positionen innerhalb der Strategic Management Society. So war er beispielsweise im Jahr 2012 und 2015 Programmvorsitzender der Jahres- und Themenkonferenzen der Strategic Management Society in Prag und St. Gallen. Zuletzt unterstützte Prof. Ambos als wissenschaftlicher Berater das Wissenschaftsministerium der Vereinigten Arabischen Emirate (UAE) und wirkte als Gutachter im Rahmen der EFI Expert Group des Deutschen Bundestages.
Professor Ambos besitzt mehrjährige Industrieerfahrung in internationalen Managementpositionen in Vietnam, Italien, Paris und New York. Zu seinen Forschungs- und Beratungspartnern zählen u. a. Astellas, Airbus, Bundesrechungshof, Die Presse, Eli Lilly, Ford, France Telecom, Helvetia, Hutchison 3G, Honda, Jungheinrich, JP Morgan, Kia Motors, L’Oreal, Nike, ÖVP, Pfizer, Porsche, Puma, Roland Berger, Royal Dutch Shell, die Rewe Group, das Royal Scottish National Orchestra, SAP, Siemens, Solvay, Unilever, Telekom Austria, Volkswagen und Villeroy & Boch.
Seine Forschung wurde in zahlreichen internationalen Fachzeitschriften wie International Business Review, Journal of International Management, Journal of World Business, Long Range Planning, Management International Review sowie Organizational Science, Research Policy und Strategic Management Journal veröffentlicht. In den vergangenen zehn Jahren hat er an mehr als sechzig Universitäten und Konferenzen seine wissenschaftliche Arbeit in Form von Artikeln und Vorträgen präsentiert.
